IMPROVING SLEEP, HEALTH, AND QUALITY OF LIFE
If you struggle with snoring, sleep apnea, or jaw pain, you’re not alone. Sleep-disordered breathing can seriously affect your health, relationships, and energy levels. The good news is that there are plenty of treatment options available, and effective treatment can change everything.
At the Center for Sleep Therapy, we provide sleep dentistry solutions that go beyond simply providing an oral appliance. Dr. Azita Anissi will work closely with you to ensure your treatment helps you long term. She helps her patients to breathe better, sleep better, and live better.
What is Sleep Dentistry?
DENTAL SOLUTIONS FOR BETTER SLEEP AND HEALTH
Sleep dentistry focuses on diagnosing and treating conditions like sleep apnea, snoring, and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, which impact breathing and jaw function. Many people assume these issues are just minor inconveniences, but untreated sleep disorders can lead to serious health risks.
By addressing airway obstruction and jaw alignment, sleep dentistry helps patients achieve restful sleep, prevent long-term health complications, and restore overall well-being.
Why is Sleep Dentistry Important?
TREATING SLEEP APNEA CAN SAVE LIVES
Sleep-disordered breathing can cause more than daytime fatigue. In fact, it can be a very serious medical condition. Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) causes repeated breathing interruptions throughout the night, leading to oxygen deprivation. Left untreated, sleep apnea can increase your risk of:
- Heart disease and high blood pressure
- Stroke
- Diabetes
- Weight gain and metabolic disorders
- Problems with cognitive function
Snoring, which may seem harmless because it’s common, can also indicate an underlying airway obstruction. If you suffer from frequent snoring, it’s important to visit a professional for an assessment to determine if your snoring is in fact sleep apnea. Early treatment will ensure you achieve the best possible outcome for your condition and reduce your risk of future health issues.
Who Needs Sleep Dentistry?
BOTH CHILDREN AND ADULTS BENEFIT FROM EARLY INTERVENTION
Sleep-disordered breathing can affect people of all ages. Adults with sleep apnea often experience chronic fatigue, headaches, high blood pressure, and difficulty concentrating. Children with airway issues may show symptoms like restless sleep, mouth breathing, ADHD-like behavior, or difficulty focusing at school. By treating these issues early, we can help patients achieve better sleep, better focus, and better long-term health.
How Treating Sleep Disorders Improves Your Life
TRANSFORM YOUR HEALTH, RELATIONSHIPS, AND ENERGY LEVELS
Sleep plays a crucial role in regulating hormones, metabolism, and immune function. Patients who commit to treating their sleep disorders often experience life-changing benefits, including restored energy levels, mental clarity, and better athletic performance. Another huge benefit of treatment is that it reduces the risk of serious health conditions later on.
But patients are not the only ones who benefit from treatment. Many partners of sleep apnea sufferers are able to finally get the rest they need as well. Treating the condition can allow couples to sleep in the same room again.
Risks of Untreated Sleep Apnea and Snoring
SYSTEMIC HEALTH ISSUES AND LONG-TERM CONSEQUENCES
Ignoring sleep-disordered breathing can affect both physical and mental health. Beyond increasing the risk of heart disease, stroke, and diabetes, untreated sleep apnea and snoring can also lead to:
- Chronic fatigue and brain fog
- Irritability and mood swings
- Weakened immune system
- Increased risk of accidents due to drowsiness
- Decreased lifespan
Seeking treatment for sleep apnea and airway issues will not only help you get better rest at night but also protect your overall health and longevity.
